Surgery?: It is highly unlikely you only have one tonsil. Most likely the other tonsil is so small, it can not be visualized. If the tonsil that you see has pus and infection, you may consider a culture and sensitivity for an appropriate antibiotic. The indication for tonsil surgery is 3-4 episodes of documented tonsillitis in a year.
