It depends,,: It depends on how high it is and for how long. If it's been high a while, there might be some underlying process going on. If it's very high, there might be something acute causing a reaction like autoimmune disease destroying the blood cells and raising this bilirubin. It'd be smart to see your doctor for more tests and examination, especially with a history of gastrectomy.
