Yes: It's almost like magic. In this case - black magic. It's a bit like self-hypnosis - we can cause bodily changes by our minds - for dental work, it is numbness we seek. We can become nauseous by imagining a rotting food, etc., etc. It's just one good reason to learn to manage anxiety. CBT therapists can teach you skills. If you really need meds too - ok, but learning skills may be what you need.

Health anxiety: Yes. If you think about it, anxiety can make you "feel like it's gonna happen." In fact, anxiety is one of the only things that can make a person "feel like" a corner of their mouth is going to droop. There is no sensation associated with a mouth corner that's about to droop. Schedule an appt with your psych MD and talk abt treatments for anxiety. B4 then, try a distraction -- the x word, a bath?
