Is it normal to have brown blood at the beginning of your period then have it get a dark red? no sex in three months.

Brown menses: Yes. This is completely normal. Initially, the blood at the beginning of your menses will often be brown. This is the color of old blood. As your period progresses more fresh blood (or bright red blood) will be passed. This is completely normal and unrelated to intercourse. You've no reason to abstain, unless this is your preference.
