See Vein Specialist: The ideal treatment for varicose veins is a venous reflux exam to look for leaking valves which are the source of the varicose veins. Correcting the varicose veins with a laser closure procedure would be the treatment of choice. Ibuprofen would help to soothe vein pain but you should see vein specialist for a full venous evaluation and to see why your veins are hurting you.

Veins: The symptoms that she would have could be related to the varicose veins, as his symptoms progressively worsened in the lower portion of the leg due to the blood flow regurgitation issue. That can cause localized swelling in the area of the knee if there is in fact varicose vein in that location. I would recommend evaluation and possible treatment of this symptomatic issue.
