Not necessarily: Sometimes liver enzyme elevation is not permanent and liver cells are not permanently damaged. Some forms of toxicity from certain drugs, obesity with loss of weight, trauma with healing, abstaining from alcohol, viral hepatitis, mononucleosis with recovery , etc
