Do you take your child to the doctors for every sniffle and cough because it might be strep throat?

NO: Sniffle and cough are not typical symptoms of strep throat, a sore throat is more common.

No: If they are not old enough to tell you they have a sore throat, the chances of their having strep related complications are almost non-existent.Some infants & toddlers can carry strep when they are not sick or when they really have a simple viral illness. There are conflicting thoughts as to whether these should ever be treated just because strep is found on a quick test.
