can my wife still have a baby after gastric bypass surgery?

Yes, even safer: Pregnancy is perfectly safe after gastric bypass. In fact, many obese women have trouble getting pregnant until gastric bypass. Fertility improves almost immediately. Usually best to wait 6 months to get pregnant after bypass since losing weight so fast. I helped write an article about the safety here: http://www.Ncbi.Nlm.Nih.Gov/m/pubmed/17161090/.
