Yes it is: ct scanning is very safe. You should not have many of these types of studies but to find out what is bothering you, nothing better

Radiation exposure: Your doctor is required by medical ethics and hospital as well as state laws to justify the need of any tests ordered. So it was likely necessary to be done. Every radiograph exposes an individual to some radiation. The addition of contrast to the CT scan (if ordered with contrast) exposes one to possible side effects of contrast (also generally well tolerated in otherwise healthy individuals)
