Had bone scan and sides of pelvis, spine, top of skull are dark. are dark areas always indicative of some abnormality - or are some areas always dark?

Sometimes: Depends on why you had the scan in the first place. But these are may be normal. Talk the doctor who requested the study to further explain the results

Ask 4 nm doc report: Bone activity can be related to areas of normal uptake versus areas of abnormal uptake, that include trauma, infection, tumor etc) depending on distribution and intensity of areas. Your bone scan should have been interpreted by physician trained in nuclear medicine. His report would describe abnormal areas and usually give suggestion of possible expanations and correlative imaging studies.
