Pasta/oil/cheese?: I am a vegetarian and have difficulty not gaining weight. I think the culprits are cheese and cream in my case. If you are vegan then watch how many carbohydrates, like bread and pasta you eat, and monitor how much oil is in your food. Best wishes.

See Dr., then eat...: If one is truly underweight (based on height, family background, and body type), a Dr. can evaluate for a hormonal, digestive, or other disorder. If no medical cause is found, then one can add weight by eating more calories of nutritious foods, while also doing weight-training to increase muscle. Weight gain diet: First eat healthy. At least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. Lots of grains, nuts, cereals. You are in the fortunate situation where you can eat a lot of foods that most have to avoid like ice cream and milk shakes (very high sources of calories and fat). Starches too are fine for you: potatoes and pasta. Eat at least 4 ounces of meat or fish daily.

How likely is it that i can actually gain weight by going on the raw foods diet?

Quantity: Gain or loss of weight has nothing to do with raw or cooked foods. It is only a matter of the amount of calories you intake in a day. Cooking food was started to disinfect the food even though some vitamins and minerals may suffer degradation.

Why?: Trying to gain weight is not a good idea. If you are otherwise healthy, being skinny is not a disease. Soon enough you will start gaining weight and will look back fondly at this time when you could eat anything without gaining weight. See this site for information about healthy eating.
