Pain: The typical symptoms of a hernia are a bulge and pain. The pain is caused by abdominal contents protruding through the hole in the abdominal wall (the hernia). Best to get it checked out by your primary care provider. Sometimes need a ct scan or ultrasound to make the diagnosis. Occasionally, a surgical procedure is needed to make the diagnosis.
