Will my child lose her hair due to leukemia treatment?

Yes: It is easiest to say yes although treatments vary. Most leukemia therapies hit rapidly growing cells (ie cancer cells) but also affect normal fast growing cells like those in the GI tract, skin and hair follicles. The idea is to strike a balance that kills cancer cells but lets the normal cell recover. So, the hair will grow back, and unlike someone my age...It will grow rapidly.

Simple: Hair follicles grows like cancer, chemotherapy damages any cells that is constantly growing, example hair follicle, mucosa, bone marrow/ blood count.
