Unlikely: It would be rather unusual to see swelling in your leg because of compression of a nerve in your back. Is their swelling your calf? If so, that would raise the possibility that you might have some type of obstruction of the vein bloodflow in your leg. There are some simple noninvasive test that can tell if there's any blockage of the blood flow return in your leg. Call your doctor and review your situation with him to determine if these test should be done or not
