Vaccines: First and foremost, get vaccinated. Even as an adult you can get meningococcal vaccine. If you have any types of immune deficiencies, there are other vaccines that may help, like the PPSV-23. Always use good handwashing when around anyone who is ill. Don't travel to sub-Sahara Africa or work at the CDC. Keep yourself in good general health.
