3 reasons: There are 3 reasons for tonsillectomy at your age. 1.) 3 or more documented episodes of acute tonsillitis, 2.( Severe obstruction leading to sleep disorder, and 3.) the less frequent problem of food particles getting caught in the crypts of the tonsillar surface causing severe halitosis. I am not sure if you are 43 years old why your parents should be making any decisions for you.

For good reason: People get tonsils removed mainly for 1) treatment of sleep apnea, 2) clear obstructive swallowing, 3)recurrent infections, 4) tumor removal, 5) bad breath, or 6) history of recurrent peritonsillar abscesses just to name a few. All the best!
