Herniated disc: If you have a confirmed herniation with an MRI, the first line of treatment is usually a steroid injection around the nerve performed by a qualified pain physician. You may require more than one, but no more than three in a year. If the herniation is large and you have weakness, surgery is the best option. Along with these treatments, you may be given an antiinflammatory medication as well.
