Mostly no: A properly done blood transfusion is not dangerous. There are possibilities of problems, but they are rare and it is best to ask about them before you sign the consent form to receive blood.

Not without risk: The main problems today are transfusion related reactions. The chances of getting a disease, such as HIV, Hepatitis C or B is extremely low. Probably close to 1:3,000,000. I have seen bacterial infections and transfusion reactions. Most transfusion reactions are mild but they can be severe. Hope this helps.
