Destruction of lung: This is destruction of lung tissue, most often from smoking. It can cause symptoms of cough, wheezing, and shortness of breath. It is diagnosed by imaging and lung function tests. This is one of the causes of COPD, which means Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. The main problem in COPD is inability to blow out all the air in the chest, which then causes many of the symptoms.
