Two different areas: You will need a comprehensive and detailed evaluation of your back pain and TMD to arrive at a diagnosis before any treatment can be recommended. A dentist would be the starting point for the TMD. Your primary care MD would be the starting point for your back pain. Either one may opt to treat you after diagnosing the problems, or refer you to the appropriate specialists for treatment.

No connection: You have 2 separate problems that need to be addressed separately. To receive the best care, you should always first consult your primary care physician, and he/she might refer you to a proper specialist for each problem. Example: TMD problem is an Orofacial Pain specialist field.

Separate entities: The only way a TMD/TMJ issue and back pain can be connected is possibly through some type of arthritic condition. Normally, one will not exacerbate the other.
