See below.: Discuss this with the doctor who is ordering the test. Under certain circumstances a mild sleeping pill can be given at the beginning of the test to help a person fall asleep. Sometimes, though, the purpose of the test is to find out why you are not sleeping.

Discuss with doctor: The sleep test is being done because you have a problem with sleep. Some companies do a home sleep test.

Home Sleep Testing: You can ask your doctor to order home sleep testing if your doctor is looking for obstructive sleep apnea, or sometime we do give sleeping medicine for some patients if the patient can not fall in sleep during the sleep study, all based on the reason for the sleep study and what we are looking for?

Sleep study: A sleep study tests for many things in addition to how well or poorly that you sleep. A sleep study is not a painful test but it is uncomfortable due to extensive monitoring from head to toe. This requires that you lay on your back and often in a bed that does not suit you. Try to relax and allow the doctor to gather as much information as possible in order to correct the sleeping problem.
