"morning mouth": Actually, everyone has a degree of bad breath first thing in the morning. The "morning mouth" is a type of bed breath that is normal. The major cause of that is a lessen saliva supply and dry mouth. Of coarse other causes for bad breath are tooth decay, gum disease, diet and poor dental hygiene. Rec. see oral medicine doctor for halitosis evaluation and treatment if needed.

Normal: When you sleep, the flow of saliva slows down. Many drugs also decrease salivary flow. Saliva helps clean teeth. It is not unusal to wake up with "morning mouth". Brushing your teeth thoroughly is advised, but a quick rinse will help, if you don't want to brush your treeth first thing in the morning. Also, see a dentist to make sure that the odor is not due to decayed teeth or gum disease.
