Possible resistance: Strep germs causing sore throat are often resistant to Clarithromycin and other antibiotics of the same class. There are other less common germs that also cause throat infections, and are almost always resistant to this drug class. Of course, viruses cause sore throat more often than bacteria like strep. The only cure for these viruses is time. If the pain lasts over a month, see a ENT specialist.

Could be viral: There are many viral causes for sore throat and the other symptoms you dxcribe and these would not respond to antibiotics. Additionally, Clarithromycin is a poor choice for throat infection as there is a significant amount of resistance to it among strep. Follow up with whoever prescribed the antibiotic.
