Ovulation: For sperm to meet the egg, ovulation must have occurred already. Ovulation is the first event and it means exit of the egg cell out of it "home" to meet a sperm cell.

Conception: When the egg is fertilized there is no further ovulation and no further menstruation during pregnancy. Only one sperm can fertilize an egg.
