Probably not: In the vast majority of cases back pain in a 16 year old is not serious. It is good to be active. Many physically fit people do not pay enough attention to stretching and strengthening the back and stomach muscles. If the pain is worsening, you have pain or tingling going down one or both legs, you have weakness or numbness, or trouble controlling your bowel or bladder, you should be evaluated.
