IQ tests are well-: validated instruments with built-in measures for the range of scores that a person could achieve on any given day. Tests must be appropriate; e.g. motor impairment may lower a score on non-verbal IQ tests with timed motor tasks. Deafness may require a test with no language component, like the Leiter-3. The Differential Abilities Scale is often used for kids with known developmental disabilities.
