See below: Testing for Insulin is not a usual issue for diagnosing diabetes. Fasting plasma glucose and Hemoglobin A1c are more common tests. Normal fasting glucose should be less than 100 and Hb Aic less than 5.7. See this site for more info. http://diabetes.niddk.nih.gov/dm/pubs/A1CTest/
