Dr. Justin Greiwe answered

Atopic Cheilitis: First remove any irritants or allergens that could be making lips worse. Avoid lip balms containing flavors, preservatives, propolis, lanolin, and other potential allergens. Apply petrolatum jelly liberally to lips. If this is not sufficient apply low dose topical corticosteroids to lips twice a day for 1-2 weeks. This is helpful in reducing inflammation and itching.
