Assess need for help: Not all babies come out breathing and vigorous. The quick assessment allows a rapid determination on what if any aid is needed to get baby into a stable state. The resuscitation effort itself can be dangerous and result in injury.In skilled hands, only what is necessary is done during this procedure.
