Not allergy: Although tongue swelling from an allergic reaction may give you a sense of numbness, by itself it is not a sign of allergy. See your doctor.

Numb feeling: Yes, could be from reaction to food, meds, OTC's, supplements, environmental factors. Could be from systemic problem such as GERD or diabetes. Could be from dental/oral infection. Cause could be neurologic. Start with your Dentist to rule out oral causes.
