Not necessarily..: If this is your first baby/pregnancy, then it may mean so. If second or more, slightly dilated cervix is common/normal and it likely stays that way until close to delivery time. Nevertheless, regular follow-up with your OB is strongly advised to ensure that it is so. If it dilates/opens up more too early, then it is incompetent and treatment maybe needed.
