2 ways: Hi. The most common means of treating hyperthyroidism are anti-thyroid medications (usually methimazole but also PTU) and radioactive iodine (RAI). RAI is very simple, safe, and effective, but some people don't like the stigma attached. Beta blockers are also used temporarily to help with heart racing and tremor. Good luck!
