Bloody diarrhea: First avoid solid food. Try clear liquid diet (broth, pedialyte, etc) to keep you from dehydration. Slowly advance to semi-solid food as you feel better. OTC anti-diarrhea medication such as Imodium (loperamide) or Pepto Bismuth may be used if not improved. See your doctor if you have seen a large quantity of fresh blood or maroon colored stool. Go to ER if you fail to improve or feeling dizzy on standing
