No.: Fetal alcohol syndrome is caused by alcohol intake during pregnancy when the alcohol crosses the placenta and harms the fetus.

Not one of the Fetal: Alcohol Spectrum Disoders currently listed on http://www.fasdcenter.samhsa.gov, but paternal alcoholism causes epigenetic effects, changes in functions such as methylation, but not in the sequence of certain genes in the sperm. These changes may be inherited & impact early fetal development, contributing to the physical & neurobehavioral abnormalities of FASD's. Research is ongoing at this time.

No: Fetal alcohol syndrome is due to exposure in utero. However tendency to alcohol abuse may have a genetic basis, so father may be a contributor to chil' slater alcohol abuse
