A member asked:

I dislocated my kneecap for the second time in 4 months. is surgery the main treatment or is rehab still an option?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: Is this due to unusual trauma, contact sports, everyday activities such as climbing stairs, etc. What do the x-rays or M.R.I.s show. Has surgery been suggested or has rehab treatment been ordered by a physical therapist? Do you have hypereleasticity?' As a generalization, in your age group, if feasible, rehab would be preferred to surgery.
