Minor risks: Senna is generally felt to be safe in pregnancy and very little of it is absorbed into the body. Common side effects may include nausea, abdominal cramping, gas, diarrhea, and discoloration of the urine.

Senna Side Effects: Potential side effects w senna may include rectal bleeding (black, tarry, malodorous stools), abdominal cramping & pain, nausea / vomiting, diarrhea, gas, brown urine & feeling lightheaded. Dehydration, reduced potassium levels, liver problems,cardiac arrhythmia and kidney damage may occur. Discuss use of Senna with your physician if pregnant. It should not be used longer than 7 days.
