Disciplines: A psychiatrist is first an md who learns about all of medicine and can diagnose medical conditions vs psychiatric and prescribe medicines. Psychologists study the mind and behavior and have expertise in research models and psychologic treatments. Social workers do similar but usally from a system perspective of the person in society and family. All can do therapy and may ofter helpful ideas.
