No: Most cerclages are done in the or and under either a light anesthetic or a regional (spinal block). I've done them different ways but all of them are pain-free, easy, and don't worry about pain. Your doc will keep you comfortable. You will stay until your anesthetic has worn off, be evaluated for cramping or bleeding, and they'll check for fetal heart tones. Good luck with your pregnancy.
