A member asked:

No matter how, many home nebulizer treatments i do or doses off my rescue inhaler i still have had breathing difficulty last week, er or my internist?

Possibly ER: If you are able to perform you activities of daily living you should make an appointment to see your internist asap, but if you are unable to do so or have difficulty speaking more than two or three word sentences then you should be seen in the er right away.

ER: It sounds like the Er is the safest place for you. When your usual medications and rescue medications don't work, you need a close evaluation of your oxygen levels as well as a look at blood work and your lungs. You may need intravenous medicines as well. Most doctors offices are not equipped for this and if you are seriously ill the ER is the best place.
