Only if needed: If your asthma is uncontrolled, you need a short-term relief with nebulized or MDI inhaler to keep the airways open Even more important, you will likely need an inhaled steroid +/- a long-acting bronchodilator in the future to keep you from getting into trouble again. In the meanwhile you may benefit from a short course of oral steroid to get you out of the crisis.
