Yes: Unprotected sex will eventually lead to pregnancy or std's. Many std's are forever, as herpes is. You can get herpes if your partner has it, but does not have an outbreak. If they take antivirals every day, that reduces the risk of transmission. Get your blood tested for hsv i &ii igm &igg in a couple months. By then you will have formed some antibodies to know if it was a new exposure or old.

Need more info...: Is your blood test positive or your partner's? HSV 1 or 2? Positive test means the person is infected, not just "exposed". As the partner of such a person, you could catch it. If it's you and HSV2, you can transmit genital to partners; whether or not visible outbreaks makes little difference. HSV1 by kissing or oral sex. The exposed person can be tested to see if s/he also is infected. Good luck!
