A member asked:

Was swabbed vaginally with gentian violet and hours later am experiencing burning- fairly extreme with urination. is this normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See answer: Gentian violet is an antiseptic dye used to treat vaginal yeast infections. Some people are overly sensitive to it and develop redness, swelling, pain, and sometimes bleeding. The urethra is especially sensitive to gentian violet. If your symptoms do not improve or worsen over next 24hrs, you should contact your treating md.
