Can be one or both: Epiretinal membranes usually begin in one eye however you are at risk of it occurring in the second eye. It is not related to the glaucoma.

Varies per patient: Epiretinal membranes vary from mild to severe and can affect one or both eyes. The importance is determining if there is an associated cause that needs to be treated. Sometimes they do develop spontaneously, again in one or both eyes. It does not always cause vision problems. Your eye doctor can detect this during your exam. Be well.

Either: Epiretinal membranes can affect either or both eyes. They typically worsen over time, but can be stable for long periods of time until they cause accelerated affects on vision. The main reason to have treatment (surgery) is for reduced visual acuity, or distortion. I strongly recommend to patients to have surgery before the vision is worse then 20/60. Often surgery is done with better vision.

Usually one: The membrane has a 15% chance of occurring in the other eye.
