Ferromagnetic?: Your dentist must have information about the composition of the retainer. If it is ferromagnetic, you probably will not be allowed to have MRI studies while the device is in.

Fixed retainer: Most lingual retainers are either stainless steel or ceramic which are not ferro-magnetic, so generally not a problem. To be sure call your treating Orthodontic Specialist or the General Dentist that treated you and ask.
