Causes of shingles: People can get an outbreak of herpes zoster (aka shingles) after too much sun exposure ( sunburn). Stress and other factors suppressing the immune system can lead to shingles as well. Shingles is treated with antiviral medication and people 60 yrs. Old and over are recommended to have the shingles vaccine.

Mixed advice: Sunlight has been blamed for bringing on a relapse in some. During an outbreak, those places may be more sensitive to sunburn, but if mild - moderate exposure - it should have little effect. If you try it - do it only a little bit and discover your reaction. If it helps, great! if it hurts - stop. The medicine should help. Talk w/ your dr about how it's going. Best wishes.
