Not really- Leg: shortening can be accomplished through femoral or tibial shortening. According to Shriner's Hospital - “The bone to be shortened is cut, & a section is removed. The ends of the cut bone are joined together, & a metal plate with screws or an inter-medullary rod down the center of the bone is placed across the bone incision to hold it in place during healing.”This is done for leg length discrepancy.
