See MD: Confidentiality is required of all medical personel. Treatment for bipolar disease is quite different than treatment for other types of mood disorder. You will be asked about a family history of depression and bipolar disease. You need to find out if any relatives have either condtion. This might be hard to do without drawiing attention to your situation. Discuss telling others with your doctor.
