What to do if i lost my voice recently, and no i'msomeone have to do in order to lose the use of their voice forever?

Viral infection: The most common cause of hoarseness or decreased function of the voice is a viral infection. Other causes are voice abuse or misuse, cigarette smoking and more rarely paralysis of a vocal fold. You will not lose your voice forever unless you have a total laryngectomy for cancer. Voice rest and fluids are used and if voice does not return in 2-3 weeks have an ENT doctor visualize your larynx.
