Look for cause: If rectal bleeding occurs after colonoscopy, it depends on amt. of blood seen and if there is a drop in the HCT. If a biopsy was performed there is a possibility that if the base of a polyp were left in tact and then bleeding resulted, that if the amt of blood were significant that a repeat colonoscopy had to be performed and area of bleeding cauterized. Occasionally an angiogram used to clot.
