Appendix: A ruptured appendix can affect the mother. Should she become septic because of this then this can affect her fetus. If it is ruptured and surgically removed without complication there should be no effect on the baby. The later in pregnancy this occurs the higher the possibility that preterm labor can occur. The best time for this to occur is during the second trimester.
